BlaKE12
We are proud to announce
BlaKE12 (/ˈbleɪki: twelv/), or KECCAK reduced to 12 rounds, is a blazing-fast cryptographic hash function with a rock-solid security foundation and suitable to a wide-range of platforms.
Features:
- Secure – BlaKE12 uses a provably-secure mode of operation and (its internal permutation) is under active public review since 2008.
- Blazing fast – With hashing speed up to 7GB/s, BlaKE12 is the fastest of the BlaKE family.
- Stable – BlaKE12 will be the last member of BlaKE family, which turns out to be also the first.
- Gluten-free – without additive.

Frequently-Asked Questions:
- Is this algorithm the same as Kangaroo-Twelve?
Yes, spot-on!
- Is this algorithm related to BLAKE, BLAKE2, BLAKE3…?
Nope.
- Why did you rename KangarooTwelve?
To highlight that it is blazing fast. To highlight that it is using the same permutation as the SHA-3 standard. And because it is fun!
- Don't you fear a collision or confusion with the BLAKE algorithms?
The pronounciation and letter case are different. If that's not enough, there is also the « 12 ».
- I don't see any Greek letters. Are you the Keccak Team?
We love Greek letters, do you as well? Here some for you: κεγγακ ρύλεσ!
- Do you work for the NSA?
Of course... not!
